World Of Hyatt Member Status: The Benefits And How To Get It

On March 1, 2017, Hyatt’s Gold Passport loyalty program was revamped and renamed as World of Hyatt. This also brought about the (ridiculous) renaming of the status levels and changes to their benefits.

When you first join the scheme, you’ll begin as a Member. Here’s a guide to all the benefits you receive with World of Hyatt Member status, along with how to get it.

Important Note: You’ll only receive these benefits when you book a hotel stay directly with Hyatt, either on their website, mobile app or by phone. If you book a stay using an OTA (Online Travel Agency) like Expedia, you’re not eligible to receive any of these benefits.

World Of Hyatt Member Status Benefits

1) 10% Discount

As a Member, you receive a 10% discount off the standard rate when staying at one of the Hyatt brand hotels. Having said that, the discount can sometimes be even higher.

2) Complimentary Internet

You’ll also receive complimentary standard internet access simply for registering in the World of Hyatt reward scheme.

3) Waived Resort Fees

When staying at a Hyatt brand using free night awards, resort fees are waived. Unfortunately the fees have to be paid if you’re staying on a paid rate though.

4) Sapphire Status With M life Rewards

M life Rewards is the loyalty scheme of MGM Resorts International who have several hotels in Las Vegas and a few other states.

Sapphire status doesn’t provide many benefits, although it does offer some good discounts at MGM hotels.

5) Category 1-4 Free Night Award

When you stay at five different Hyatt brands in a calendar year, you’ll earn a free night certificate for a category 1-4 hotel.

Summary

Considering you get Member status for free by simply registering, it provides some good benefits. The 10% discount can save you money whenever you make a reservation, while free internet access is nice to have.

It’s also great that you can earn a category 1-4 free night award when staying at five different brands. That free night can be worth $500, so being able to potentially earn it by booking a one-night stay at five different brands is awesome.
