One of the great suggestions we got from Sam at the Hyatt Place Kansas City/Lenexa City Center was to visit Stone Pillar Vineyard and Winery. We enjoyed it so much, we visited twice during our stay in the Kansas City area.
Our first visit was to do a wine tasting. Pri took care of us on both visits and was a highlight of the visit. She’s friendly, bubbly and knows her stuff. Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery makes their own wine; some of the grapes they grow themselves and others they import.

They have a wide variety of wines, slushies and ciders. Just about everything we tried, even varieties we might not normally go for, were very good. George, the owner, takes care to cultivate not only great grapes and wines, but a pleasant atmosphere for the community as well.

Our tastings were great value as it was $6 to try 6 different wines. My personal favorite was the Syrah, while Stephen’s favorite was the Chocolate Sweetheart.

There are a number of other wineries in the area and Stone Pillar had a flyer listing them all. It was nice seeing community businesses supporting one another in this way.

I love a good cider. The ones produced by Stone Pillar were so tasty, smooth and flavorful. My favorite was the pomegranate/blood orange cider.

We also tried the slushies available. My favorite of those was the blackberry.

After we’d finished tasting everything, we grabbed a bottle of wine for Valentine’s Day and were ready to go.

As we were leaving, Pri invited us to come to the pre-game party on Super Bowl Sunday. We love a good drink and supporting local businesses, so we stopped back by before the big game. Stephen did another tasting while I enjoyed a glass of the pomegranate/blood orange cider.

There was a local teenager playing guitar and many members of the community were hanging out enjoying the music, snacks and drinks. Pri and the other staff member were on top of service and had great attitudes for how busy they were. Scout – the owner’s Golden Retriever – was also visiting to ensure the clientele were kept happy.

We had a great second visit to Stone Pillar Vineyard & Winery. We’d highly recommend stopping in for a wine tasting, drink or one of their many events including Yoga in the Vines, X-treme Bingo and more. Thanks again to Pri for taking such great care of us and making us feel so welcome.
