If there’s one thing we love, it’s trolls.
No, not the annoying online commenters, but the awesome pieces of art by Danish sculptor Thomas Dambo.
We first discovered them in Chicago and subsequently saw more in Kentucky. I then went hunting for more of them in Belgium and Denmark a couple of years ago, so check out the posts below for more about all those trolls:

Illinois and Kentucky aren’t the only states with some of Thomas Dambo’s trolls though. Another place with one of them is Breckenridge, CO as that’s home to Isak Heartstone.

Isak Heartstone has a new home though. He was previously living at a different location in Breckenridge, but he proved to be so popular with visitors that it caused problems for local residents with increased traffic, parking issues, visitors knocking on the doors of residents to ask where Isak was, etc.
Rather than having the troll taken down, Thomas Dambo returned to Colorado to move him to a more ideal location. He can now be found near the Stephen C West Ice Arena. To get to him, you can park at the Ice Rink Lot – here’s its location on Google Maps so you can get directions. When you arrive at the parking lot you’ll see a sign showing you’re in the right place.

Parking is free provided you’re not trying to visit the troll between 2am and 6am.

The parking lot has a stop for the Breck Free Ride shuttle service if you want to visit downtown Breckenridge later on.

The parking lot is also a trailhead for hiking trails, as well as being next to a stream running by which presumably helps Isak stay hydrated.

From the parking lot, follow the footsteps which must have been made when Isak was only a baby.

It’s one of the easiest troll hunts you can go on as the route is clearly marked and is only 400 feet long.

Soon enough you’ll see him on your right relaxing amongst the trees.

Despite him being so much bigger than her, Truffles was feeling fearless and wanted a photo taken with him.

Inspired by her bravery, we got a photo with the troll too. It was good of Isak to smile for the photo as well.

We took a few more photos, then headed back to our car as we had a few other things on our list of places to visit that day.

If you visit, note that there’s a different path to take back to the parking lot.
