After spending just over a month in Pennsylvania, Shae, Truffles and I moved on to Delaware. Seeing as it’s a smaller state, we decided to only spend 11 days there and stayed that entire time at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach.
It’s a fairly new hotel as it only opened in February 2022. Due to its location, room rates were very high there over the summer, but visiting in off-season (early November) meant that we were able to get a great rate.
We really enjoyed our stay as the hotel has some great amenities, very friendly and welcoming staff, a good location near points of interest and free parking. There are one or two things that could be improved, but we’d highly recommend staying there if you don’t mind not being right at the beach.
Here’s a full review of our stay at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach in Delaware.
Check-In
We’d left our hotel in Harrisburg, PA at about 11:15am to head towards Delaware, but we made several stops along the way which meant we didn’t get to the Hyatt House until almost 5:30pm. There wasn’t any line to check in, so we got our keys to room 423 on the top floor pretty quickly.
We were also given a welcome gift along with a nice handwritten note. I’m assuming this is because I have Globalist status which is Hyatt’s top elite status tier, but perhaps they offer this to all guests. If they do offer it to all guests, that’s a lovely touch.

The bag contained a large bottle of water, hand sanitizer and wipes, some salt water taffy and a sheet with information about the hotel. What was particularly nice about the welcome gift is that they’d put some effort into it. There was the handwritten note, a large bottle of branded water (rather than a smaller bottle of Walmart Great Value water), an information sheet printed in color, etc. Those are small things, but it shows that they’ve put thought into the gift.

1 Bedroom Suite
When boking our stay about five weeks beforehand, I’d booked a Den 2 Queen Beds room which seemed to be their base room type as it was the cheapest option. I then used two suite upgrade awards (you earn two after staying 50 nights with Hyatt and another two after 60 nights) to upgrade us to a one bedroom suite. While suite upgrades can be better used at some of Hyatt’s other brands like Park Hyatt, Hyatt Regency and Grand Hyatt, I had some suite upgrades expiring in February that would likely otherwise have gone unused, so I was happy for us to have a one bedroom suite during this stay.
When entering the suite, the kitchen was immediately to the right, the living room straight ahead and the bedroom and bathroom through a door off to the left. Between the living room and kitchen was a high table with a couple of chairs; one was like a bar stool, while the other was like a tall office chair.

Living Room
The living room featured a spacious corner sofa, with half of it being a sleeper sofa in case you have additional guests staying in the room. There were a couple of ottomans, so we moved one of those into the bedroom to make it easier for Truffles to get up and down off the bed.
To the right of the couch was a side table with a couple of shelves to store stuff.

Opposite the couch was the living room TV on top of a unit that had a couple of cubby holes.

Back by the entrance, there was another little storage space along with some hooks for jackets, keys, etc.

Kitchen
Not all rooms at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach have a kitchen, but their one bedroom suites do. This contained a fridge-freezer, convection/microwave oven, dishwasher and stove top.

The cupboards and drawers contained dishes, plates, cookware, silverware, etc.

One downside to the kitchen was that the fridge-freezer wasn’t great. For starters, it was a mini-fridge-freezer and the fridge section was particularly small. It was therefore hard to fit much food in there.
From what I can remember, there also wasn’t the ability to control the temperature of the fridge. It did seem to stay just about cold enough, but items at the back of the fridge would get frozen, while items at the front of the fridge didn’t stay very cold despite the fridge being so tiny. The one bedroom suites at this Hyatt House aren’t very big and so I guess there’s not enough space for a full-sized fridge-freezer, but be aware of this before arriving at the hotel stocked up with chilled food.

Bedroom
Although the living room and kitchen weren’t very big, the bedroom felt a little more spacious. It had a king bed which was very comfortable and a blackout blind that worked well to keep the room dark.
There were bedside tables on both sides and I think the lamps had power outlets to make it easier to charge our phones overnight. The table on the left also contained a couple of dresser drawers.

The bedroom had a fairly large wall-mounted TV.

Off towards the bathroom there was a closet. This contained an iron, ironing board, safe, luggage rack and bedding for the living room’s sleeper sofa.

In addition to the portable luggage rack in the closet, opposite the closet was a section suitable for storing a suitcase with a couple of drawers beneath it.

Bathroom
The bathroom contained a walk-in shower which had good water pressure.

There were large wall-mounted toiletries rather than small disposable bottles.

Breakfast
Breakfast is complimentary for all guests at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach (and all Hyatt Houses for that matter). It’s available from 6:30am-9:30am on weekdays and 7am-10am at the weekend.

There were rotating hot options each day, as well as numerous other breakfast items like fruit, breads, bagels, yogurt, cereals and more.

Amenities
The Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach was a good-sized indoor swimming pool. They kept it at a very comfortable temperature, although I never got around to taking advantage of having a swim in it.

The fitness room had several pieces of cardio equipment and several weight options.

Interestingly, there was even a rowing machine which isn’t something you find very often in fitness rooms of chains like Hyatt House.

I worked out nearly every day of our stay and was impressed that housekeeping consistently kept the towel supply well-stocked in the fitness room. At other hotels, you’ll often only find a few towels – if any. At the Hyatt House in Lewes/Rehoboth Beach though, there were usually dozens available.

Seeing as Hyatt House is an extended stay brand, they have a guest laundry room. This one had two washing machines and two dryers, costing $3 per load.

Outside there’s a nice seating area with a fire pit, as well as a couple of grills available for guests to use.

If you want any snacks or drinks during your stay, there’s a pantry area next to the front desk where you can pay for those items or have them charged to your room.

Pet Policy
The Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach is a pet-friendly hotel. You’re allowed up to two dogs per room with a 50 lb weight limit per dog and a 75 lb combined weight limit. There’s a $100 pet fee which is charged per stay and is valid on stays up to 7 nights. Their website doesn’t say how much the fee is for stays longer than 7 nights; we stayed 11 nights and were only charged $100, but I don’t know if they were supposed to charge us more.
Be sure to stop by the front desk with your pup as they have a jar of pet treats.

There are a few grassy areas around the hotel where your pet can do their business. There are also sidewalks just outside the hotel, so I was able to safely take Truffles for longer walks.

Service
Service was excellent during our stay. This was likely helped by the fact that the manager used to be at the Hyatt Place Ocean City Oceanfront in Maryland. We stayed there a couple of years ago and had a wonderful stay, in large part because of how great the service was.
Some of the positive service aspects were due to little things like the fact that housekeeping made the effort to keep towels well-stocked in the fitness room. The front desk staff were always warm and welcoming, greeting us as we came and went. Breakfast items were kept well-stocked and they didn’t start clearing away until after the breakfast time officially ended, unlike some hotels where they clear items away early.
What was particularly nice was that the manager remembered us from when we’d stayed at the Hyatt Place in Ocean City. About a week into our stay she gave us another goodie bag with some local treats.

It contained a jar of blue crab salsa, tortilla chips and a couple of orange crush drinks from a local brewery. It was incredibly sweet that they did this for us.

Wi-Fi
Wi-Fi is free for all guests. There was good connectivity and the speed was good too. Working online was no problem and there weren’t any issues when on Zoom calls.
Check-In & Check-Out Times
Check-in at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach is from 4pm, while check-out is at 11am.
Location
The hotel is in the city of Lewes. It takes about 15 minutes to get to the beach in Rehoboth Beach, although it might take a little longer in summer when there’s more traffic.

Tanger Outlets Rehoboth Beach is about 10 minutes away, with numerous restaurants, grocery stores and other stores within a 5-10 minute drive. There are several restaurants within walking distance too, along with a Walgreens just across the road.
Parking
The Hyatt House offers complimentary parking for all guests. There are lots of parking spaces out front, as well as on the side and back of the hotel. As a result, we never had a problem finding a spot to park in, but perhaps it gets a little harder in the summer.

Cost
The Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach is a category 3 property in the World of Hyatt program. That means it costs 9,000, 12,000 or 15,000 points per night depending on if your stay dates are off-peak, standard or peak priced respectively. Prices in the summer can cost $350+ per night, so redeeming points can provide good value no matter which points-pricing level is being used on those dates.
Seeing as we were staying in the off-season though, paying the cash price made a lot more sense. That’s because during our dates it only cost $95.82 per night including tax. We were also able to save $37.95 by paying with a card that had a Hyatt Chase Offer loaded to it (the $37.95 got applied by Chase as a statement credit).
Points Earned
We earned 11,530 World of Hyatt points for this stay. This was made up of base points for the stay, 30% bonus points for having Globalist status and double points due to a promotion they were running at the time.
The 11 nights we stayed pushed me over the 100 night threshold for stays with Hyatt this year. That meant I got to choose another Milestone Reward – either 10,000 bonus points or another Suite Night Award. I chose the 10,000 point option, so in effect this stay earned us a total of 21,530 points.
Hyatt has a partnership with American Airlines which offers 1 AAdvantage mile for every dollar spent with Hyatt. That means I also earned 1,003 miles and 1,003 Loyalty Points.
Final Thoughts
Shae and I loved our stay at the Hyatt House Lewes/Rehoboth Beach. It’s a nice, new hotel with great staff. It’s in a convenient location for exploring the area and has a great indoor swimming pool, decently-equipped fitness room and more.
Our stay wasn’t perfect. The mini-fridge-freezer was disappointing and the hotel had some of the slowest elevators we’ve ever been on, but overall it was a great stay.
Truffles Approval Rating
Truffles gives this hotel four paws out of four – pawfect! She liked how quiet the property was, the attention and treats she got when stopping by the front desk and the fact that we could easily go for walks.
