Rapid City, SD is perhaps best known for its proximity to Mount Rushmore, but that’s not its only presidential-themed attraction. In downtown Rapid City you can find dozens of life-sized bronze statues of past presidents.
The day after we arrived there, we decided to take a walk around town with our dog Truffles to find them all. They were all pretty easy to find, although they’re not all in order from 1-44 (at the time of our visit in May 2023, they hadn’t installed statues of Donald Trump and Joe Biden).
As a result, I wanted to put together a map showing how to find all of the presidential statues in Rapid City. The numbers in the map below correspond to who was the first president, who was the second, etc., rather than being the order in which to see them. If you don’t want to do excessive wandering back and forth, it makes more sense to start at one end and work your way down rather than trying to visit in order from George Washington to Barack Obama.
The statues are all very good quality, with several of them having been decorated with sunglasses which made some of them look surprisingly cool! A couple of the statues – Andrew Johnson (17th president) and Richard Nixon (37th president) – were missing when we visited as construction was being done on that side of the road.

Here are photos of all of the other statues of presidents in Rapid City.
