With just five main ingredients, my Instant Pot chicken pesto pasta recipe is cheap and easy to make.
Even more importantly, it tastes great!
Another benefit of this recipe is that it can all be cooked in an Instant Pot. To be fair, it could be made in any pot, but the Instant Pot is especially helpful for us. That’s because we’re living in hotels on our 5 year, 50 state road trip and so often don’t have access to a kitchen.
So please excuse the quality of these photos – they were taken during our stay at the Comfort Inn in Greenville, South Carolina. No state of the art photography studio here!

Equipment Needed
- Instant Pot (this is our Amazon affiliate link)
- Bowl
- Teaspoon
- Spatula
- Chopping boards
- Knives
Ingredients
- 1 large chicken breast
- 12 grape / cherry tomatoes
- 20 green beans
- 3 oz pesto
- 8.5 oz pack of Barilla Ready Pasta
- Oil spray

Recipe
Step 1
Dice the chicken, top & tail the green beans and cut both those and the tomatoes in half.

Step 2
Spray the base of the Instant Pot with the oil spray. Add the chicken and use the sauté function to brown the meat.
Once browned, add half of the pesto (1.5 oz) and stir.

Step 3
A minute after the pesto has been added, transfer the chicken to the bowl. Spray the inside of the pot with more oil and add the green beans. Sauté them for five minutes, using the spatula to turn them every 30 seconds or so.

Step 4
After the green beans have sautéd for five minutes, add the chicken pieces back in. Also add the pasta, tomatoes and the remaining pesto.
Stir the ingredients together and continue sautéing for five more minutes.

Step 5
Serve it up and enjoy!

n.b. The keen-eyed among you might notice that the photo of the ingredients shows penne pasta, while the finished product has rotini. We ate this meal twice in the same week and I started taking photos the first time I made it and took the rest the second time I made it.
Tips
- Add salt & pepper to taste. I also like adding some chili flakes to give it a little kick.
- Using Barilla Ready Pasta is nice and convenient, especially seeing as we’re living in hotels. However, you can certainly use pre-prepared pasta instead seeing as it’d be cheaper.
