Please don’t judge me: I don’t like cheese.
I’m not lactose intolerant. I’m not vegan. I’ve just never liked the taste of cheese.
And yet I love Grandpa’s Cheesebarn.
Our friends in Mansfield, Ohio took us to Grandpa’s Cheesebarn a couple of years ago. During that visit, Shae tried their garlic white cheddar cheese and I don’t think it’s left her dreams ever since. I’ve been looking forward to returning too, as there’s much more to the Cheesebarn than just cheese.

Our first stop as we entered was to head straight upstairs as that’s home to all the cheese in Grandpa’s Cheesebarn. There are cheeses around the entire perimeter, with samples of many of the flavors available for taste testing.
The fun thing is that there are tons of unique flavors:

It killed me that I don’t like cheese as some of the flavors looked amazing, especially the horseradish bacon and sweet habañero.
Shae had it in hand though and tried all the cheeses:

As we made our way round to the other side, we came across their steakhouse onion cheese. And there were samples.

If the steakhouse onion cheese was a man, I think I’d have a serious rival for Shae’s affections. It was a dairy version of Channing Tatum.

So with all this cheese, why do I love Grandpa’s Cheesebarn? Because there are all kinds of other foods to sample:

In addition to all the cheeses, meats, salsa, relishes, etc., there’s also mustard, sauces, pickles and more.

Having done a tasting tour of the upstairs section of Grandpa’s Cheesebarn, Shae excitedly grabbed some steakhouse onion and garlic white cheddar cheeses to take with us. We also got chatting to Ken who works there – he was extremely friendly and gave us some suggestions of other places to visit on our 5 year, 50 state road trip.

The eating didn’t stop there though. Next up was the downstairs section of Grandpa’s Cheesebarn where there are plenty more food samples for you to taste.

After taking a photo with Colby…

…we made our way to the checkout. Shae had her cheeses from upstairs, while I grabbed a tub of cinnamon apple granola which ended up being delicious. We loved the cash register as it was an old-style one where the numbers literally rang up as prices were added.

With cheese and granola in hand, we bade farewell to Grandpa’s Cheesebarn, but not before saying cheese.
Our next stop was Sweeties – the largest candy store in the US.
Final Thoughts
If you like tasting fun flavors of cheese, meats, salsa, dips, chips, sauces and more, Grandpa’s Cheesebarn is the place for you. There really is something there for everyone – even for cheese-haters like me!
