When looking at our accommodation options for Green Bay, my initial plan had been to book in at the Hyatt Regency as it only costs 5,000 points per night.
While searching on the Hilton website though, a great paid rate showed up for the Home2 Suites Green Bay. We’d not stayed at a Home2 Suites before so weren’t entirely sure what to expect. However, it was pet-friendly, had a kitchen and included breakfast, so it seemed worth booking.
Here’s a complete review of our week-long stay at the Home2 Suites Green Bay, Wisconsin.
Check-In
We had a very friendly and perky front desk agent checking us in who asked if we’d ever stayed at their hotel. She gave us a quick rundown when we said we hadn’t, letting us know about the pool, fitness room, breakfast times, other amenities and more.

The entire check-in process only took a couple of minutes and we soon had our keys to room 325.
Room
When entering, the kitchen was on the left, the bathroom on the right and the main bedroom and living area straight ahead and to the right.

Kitchen
The kitchen had a full size fridge-freezer…

…along with a microwave, dishwasher, sink, plates, dishes, mugs, glasses, silverware and a coffee maker. One thing it was missing was a stove top, but you can get a portable cooktop and skillets from the front desk.

It was a little weird at first having the open cupboards as I kept wanting to close their non-existent doors. After a few days, I ended up appreciating it being open as it made it easier to access everything.
I also appreciated how many kitchen items there were – six plates, six bowls, six mugs, six glasses, etc. That reduced how frequently we had to run the dishwasher and was a vast improvement on my recent Candlewood Suites stay where there was only two of everything.
Living Area
To the right of the kitchen was a desk area with an office chair. To the right of that was a cupboard and set of drawers with a TV on top.

The desk was nicely designed when it came to connectivity thanks to a wall outlet, along with an extension outlet which included three USB chargers.

Something I realized later on our first evening was that the desk wasn’t only a desk. Beneath that was a table on rollers which could be moved wherever you like in the room.

Opposite the desk was an orange sofa bed, with an ottoman which could double up as a coffee table.

Bedroom
To the left of the sofa was a queen bed which felt more like a king.

The thoughtful design continued on the bedside shelf which had several easy-to-access outlets.

Opposite the bed was a very long shelf which was perfect for storing stuff both on top and underneath. Attached to the wall were a couple of doorless cupboards, with an additional cupboard beneath.

Further to the right was a closet with a curtain to close it off if you wanted. Inside was a luggage rack, iron and ironing board.

The room’s window had double blinds, one which was sheer and one which was a blackout blind. That kept the room extremely dark at night and well into the morning.

Another thoughtful design element was a room dividing curtain you could use to section off the living area from the bedroom.

Bathroom
When entering the bathroom, the toilet was straight ahead, with the sink and vanity to the left.

On the right of the bathroom was a spacious shower which had good water pressure.

The only loose toiletries in the bathroom was a bar of soap.

That’s because the shower had wall-mounted shampoo and shower gel dispensers. That won’t be to everyone’s taste, but I’m fine with it seeing as it helps reduce plastic wastage from all the little bottles that won’t end up in a landfill.

Overall, we really loved our bedroom which reminded me of an Ikea display room. It wasn’t a particularly huge room, but it was incredibly smartly designed and felt spacious. It had a colorful, stylish design without looking garish.
Breakfast
Breakfast is included in your room rate at the Home2 Suites Green Bay. One of the things I enjoyed most about their breakfast was that it’s served until 10am during the week and 11am at the weekend. That meant we didn’t have to get up as early as normal in order to grab some breakfast.
To reduce wastage, they use ceramic plates and dishes, silverware and glasses rather than disposable items.
Breakfast is served to the right of the front desk. There’s a machine dispensing fruit juice and water, with juice that actually tasted OK given that it was coming from a machine.

There was a fridge containing cartons of milk and four or five different yogurt flavors. Keep an eye on the dates on the yogurts as there were some that were two weeks past their Use By date when we visited.

There were three types of cereal – I’m assuming the one on the left was frosted flakes, the middle was raisin bran, while the one on the right was some kind of granola. I love granola but didn’t enjoy this particular kind as it had some other type of (presumably uber healthy) grains in it.

There was hot oatmeal that Shae enjoyed, along with a great selection of different toppings.

There were various hot options offered in the mornings. That included sausage, egg and cheese sandwiches in wheat English muffins, cheese omelets and tubs of scrambled eggs with cheese, peppers and onions. Hard boiled eggs were offered as an additional protein source.

The hot options are actually offered cold as there are microwaves next to them to heat them up. To the left of those were some drawers containing bread, bagels and mini donuts, with a bowl of fresh fruit on top.

There’s a toaster for the bread and bagels, with a couple of waffle makers to the side. The batter mix is multigrain with buckwheat; that didn’t sound great at first, but throwing in some chocolate chips and adding syrup helped it taste less healthy 😉

If you don’t want fruit juice at breakfast, there’s a coffee and tea station in the lobby that’s actually available 24 hours a day.

Amenities
The Home2 Suites brand is aimed at people needing an extended stay. Due to that, they have several amenities to enhance your stay.
Outside, there were two patio areas on opposite ends of the hotel. Both had grills, while one had a gas fire pit.

Inside, there’s a saline swimming pool which doesn’t use any chemicals.

The hotel (as with all Home2 Suites properties) had a Spin2 Cycle area. This contains both a fitness room and a laundry area so that you can work out while waiting for your clothes in the wash.

We didn’t end up using the guest laundry facilities, but I think both the washers and dryers cost $0.75 each which is very reasonable.

If you want to get out of your room, there’s plenty of seating in the lobby which doubles up as breakfast seating in the morning.

The lobby also had a business center with a couple of computers and a printer. You can see that in the distance behind the long couch.

If you get hungry during your stay, next to the front desk is a snack area, along with a freezer containing microwave meals, ice cream, etc.

For guests who want to smoke, there’s a covered smoking shelter outside.

Wi-Fi
The Wi-Fi connection at the Home2 Suites Green Bay was good. The only issue is that we had to reconnect every 24 hours which was irritating. I’m not sure why all Hilton properties (Home2 Suites is a Hilton brand) seem to require that given that most other hotel chains don’t require that.
The issue’s not so much that we had to reconnect each day, but that my laptop wouldn’t reconnect unless I restarted it. When working online, that has the potential to mean you lose what you’re working on, plus it wastes time having to shut everything down, restart and then reopen everything.
Pet-Friendliness
The Home2 Suites Green Bay is a pet-friendly hotel. They charge a $125 pet fee regardless of your length of stay. If you’re only staying for a few nights that’s extremely expensive, but it’s not so bad if you’re staying 7+ nights.
There are several grassy areas around the hotel, with a dedicated pet walking area at the back.

Service
Overall, service was very good and the front desk staff were friendly whenever we needed to speak to them. We had a couple of packages delivered during our stay which didn’t cost anything (some hotels charge you for having mail or packages sent to you).
Location
If you’re visiting Lambeau Field for a Packers game (or stadium tour), the Home2 Suites is in an excellent location. You can see the stadium from the hotel and, as it’s only half a mile away, you can easily walk there on game day.
The hotel’s only a few miles from downtown, so it took less than ten minutes to get there with no traffic. It’s also only a 15 minute drive to Bay Beach Amusement Park which we highly recommend visiting. The park has the Zippin Pippin – one of the oldest wooden roller coasters in the US which was Elvis’ favorite roller coaster back in the day.
Cost
The Home2 Suites Green Bay seems to offer great rates for stays of seven nights or more. If we’d only stayed for a few days, the nightly rate would’ve been something like $150 per night plus tax. Instead, our stay was only $65.81 per night ($76.01 with tax) seeing as we stayed for a week. We also had to pay the $125 pet fee as we’re traveling with our dog Truffles.
In terms of Hilton Honors points earned, unfortunately Home2 Suites is one of their brands that earns just 5 points per dollar rather than the 10 points per dollar you earn at most of their brands. That meant we only earned 6,448 points for the stay but which is more than it could’ve been given that Hilton had a double points promotion at the time. We should also earn 7,904 points as we paid using a Hilton credit card which earns 12 points per dollar on purchases at their properties.
If we’d booked the stay using points, we’d have paid 22,000 points per night, so paying cash was better value. That points rate is variable, so it might be different depending on the dates you search.
I also booked our stay after clicking through from Top Cashback. That should earn us 1% cashback on the pre-tax rate which means we’ll get $4.61 back.
Final Thoughts
Shae and I really enjoyed our stay at the Home2 Suites Green Bay. We loved the stylish and smartly designed bedroom and appreciated having a kitchen.
The staff were friendly, it had great amenities and I loved that they offer breakfast so late into the morning. If we revisit Green Bay, I think we’d definitely stay at this hotel again.
Truffles Approval Rating
Truffles gives this Home2 Suites four paws out of four – pawfect! Although the pet fee has the potential to be expensive for shorter stays, it worked out at less than $20 per night for us.
The room was large enough for her to run back and forth chasing her ball, while there were some good grassy areas outside for her to walk around to do her stuff.
