Shae’s awesome at finding quirky things to see and do on our road trip. We were due to have a 3.5 hour journey from Green Bay to La Crosse, but wanted to break up the trip with something interesting along the way.
Shae did a bit of research of things to see along our route and read about a homemade Transformer in someone’s front yard. That’s not something you see every day, so we added Edgren Bilt Yard Art as a stop.
We pulled up at Edgren Bilt Yard Art just as a thunderstorm was rolling in, so it ended up being a quick stop. All of the yard art is made of metal, so it’s not somewhere you want to be when lightning’s in the area 😉
Needless to say, the first thing you notice when looking around is the home made Transformer. The 23 foot tall robot called Hardwire tightly grips the Stars and Stripes and towers over the house.

It’s an incredible piece of work given that it’s made using a car and other scrap metal. Its creator is George Edgren whose website says “If you can dream it, I can build it.” And I believe him!
The movie theme continues as you look around his yard, with Toothless from How To Train Your Dragon…

…and loads of different Minions.

I’m not at all creative in an artistic sense, so stuff like this always impresses me. I’ve no idea how you take random pieces of metal and have the vision to turn them into something cool.
So if you find yourself in the middle of Wisconsin between Green Bay, La Crosse, Madison and Wausau, swing by the village of Wild Rose to check out Edgren Bilt Yard Art. Hopefully you’ll have good weather and so get to enjoy his designs for longer than we did.
