From the moment we arrived in Wisconsin, we’d seen restaurants advertising that they served a Friday fish fry.
Milwaukee, Green Bay, La Crosse, Wausau and Eau Claire – we’d seen Friday fish fries mentioned in all those places.
I’d kept saying I wanted to go to a Friday fish fry, so during our week in Phillips, Wisconsin we finally decided to find one. We’d driven by Harbor View Pub & Eatery a few times on the way to our Airbnb so decided to head there on the Friday night of our stay.

The reason we chose Harbor View was because their deck has a beautiful view overlooking Long Lake. What could be better than this view on a beautiful evening while having dinner and drinks?

It was 7pm when we arrived and so most of the outside seating was already taken. Thankfully there were still one or two tables available, so Shae and I were able to snag one of those.

If you’d prefer to sit inside, there’s plenty of additional seating both at tables and at the indoor bar.

I already knew that I wanted to order the Friday fish fry, but took a look at the menu anyway in case there was something amazing that I wouldn’t want to miss out on.

In addition to the regular drinks you can order from the bar, the menu also had some signature drinks and specialty wines, although I’m not convinced I’d call Sutter Home wine “specialty” 😉

I ordered a draft Blue Moon, while Shae got a Summer Hummer cocktail which had lime vodka, orange juice and Sierra Mist. I’ve had Blue Moon many a time, so already knew I’d like it. This was Shae’s first time trying lime vodka and she enjoyed her cocktail.

I’d snacked a little earlier that afternoon, so wasn’t interested in getting an appetizer. Shae hadn’t had anything since lunch though, so was a little more peckish. Seeing as we were in Wisconsin, she ordered fried cheese curds which were fairly good.

I hadn’t found anything else on the Harbor View Pub & Eatery menu that grabbed my attention, so went ahead and ordered the all-you-can-eat fish fry. You get the choice of lightly battered or broiled fish, so I asked for lightly battered. You also get to choose what kind of potato you want, so I ordered a baked potato. The Friday fish fry also comes with a tasty bread roll and some coleslaw.

The battered fish was very good, so I ended up asking for a second helping seeing as it was all-you-can-eat. The baked potato was fine, although I prefer when they have a crispy skin. The coleslaw was also good, but had a little too much dressing for my liking.
Shae went for the fish fry too, but paid an extra dollar to include broasted chicken with it. Rather than getting the lightly battered haddock, she asked for hers broiled. (n.b. Her fish is hiding beneath the bread roll.) She also asked for red potatoes instead of fries or a baked potato.

Shae really enjoyed her fish as well. The chicken wasn’t anything to write home about as there wasn’t much flavor to the seasoning (I got to try some of it and agreed). The red potatoes were a little bland too. Still, we were there for the fish fry and the fish was delicious.
Harbor View Pub & Eatery might have a dessert menu, but we didn’t see one. We were both full after the all-you-can-eat fish fry, so we didn’t ask to see one.
Before heading back to our Airbnb, we had a quick look inside the restaurant. There was a pool table…

…dart board and a few slot machines (not pictured).

There was also a board giving some history of the bar which has been open for almost 80 years.

Final Thoughts
Shae and I both enjoyed our meal at Harbor View Pub & Eatery in Phillips, Wisconsin. They have a beautiful view from the deck and our server was very friendly. The fish was tasty, although the side dishes were a little disappointing in comparison.
