After Shae and I got back from our trip to Dubai, Egypt and Jordan, we stayed for a week at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center.
We’d already spent just over a month in Denver before going on that trip, but I’d gotten tickets for The Black Crowes at Red Rocks Park & Amphitheatre for August 30 and so we needed to spend a little more time in the area for that.
We had a good stay overall – it wasn’t a spectacular hotel, but we don’t expect that when staying at a Hyatt Place. Here’s a full review of our stay at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center.
Check-In
Having flown back from Chicago that afternoon, we picked up our car from our friends and went on to pick up Truffles from the pet sitter she’d been staying with while we were overseas. It ended up being about 5:30pm by the time we arrived at the hotel.

There wasn’t anyone else checking in when we arrived, so we were able to get checked in immediately. That didn’t take long and so we were soon on our way up to room 401.
Bedroom
Our room was a fairly standard layout for a Hyatt Place. You entered into the living area, with the bedroom and bathroom straight ahead.

There was a corner sleeper sofa with an ottoman and side table in the living room. There was a gap of about 1.5 feet between the right side of the couch and the wall. While that was a little unusual seeing as you’d normally expect it to be up against both walls, that gap ended up being a useful space for us to store some of our stuff so that it was somewhat hidden away, so we actually appreciated that setup.

One of my pet peeves with Hyatt Places is that there’s often no power outlet in the living room area. That was no issue at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center as there were more than enough outlets available.

On the opposite side of the room was a wet bar with a mini fridge to the left and a desk and office chair to the right.

Between the living area and bedroom was the room’s TV.

The bedroom had a king bed. As with all our stays at Hyatt Places, our bed at the Denver Tech Center location was very comfortable.

Next to the bed on the right hand side was a charging port with a couple of outlets and a couple of USB ports.

The bedroom area had a closet with an iron, ironing board and luggage rack.

Bathroom
Between the closet and the bathroom was a sink and vanity, with some dresser drawers to the left.

The bathroom itself had a walk-in shower which had pretty good water pressure.

Rather than having large refillable toiletry bottles in the bathroom, the hotel provided small bottles of shampoo, conditioner and body lotion.

Overall the room was good. It had enough space to store all our stuff (we travel full-time and so we have more items with us than your average guests) and it was nice and quiet.
Breakfast
Breakfast at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center changed a couple of days after we checked in. On our first morning they were still offering their COVID-affected breakfast which was a to-go bag with the choice of several types of cereal if you wanted.

From our second morning they moved back to providing a more standard Hyatt Place breakfast buffet. That included scrambled eggs, sausage and breakfast potatoes, along with fresh fruit, yogurt, muffins and more.

The hotel had a few teething problems with the reversion to their regular breakfast offering. Items weren’t always well stocked; one morning there was no fruit or yogurt, while on a couple of mornings there was a fairly long wait for hot items as they had to make more as they’d run out. Like I said though, I think these were just teething problems while they got adjusted to offering hot items again. It’s been a month since we stayed there, so hopefully that’s not a problem anymore.
Amenities
The hotel had an indoor swimming pool which seemed to be large enough to do laps if you wanted.

The hotel’s fitness room contained a few pieces of equipment along with some weights.

On the first floor near the elevators is a business center with a couple of computers and a printer. Both computers seemed to be “undergoing maintenance” throughout our stay though.

The hotel has six floors, but ice machines were only on odd-numbered floors.

Pet Policy
The Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center is a pet-friendly hotel. Their pet fee is $75 for stays of 1-6 nights and $175 for stays of 7+ nights. You’re allowed up to two dogs per room – there’s a weight limit of 50 lbs for one dog or 75 lbs combined for two dogs.
We were staying for seven nights and so in theory we should’ve been charged $175. Thankfully they only charged us $75 though.
There are a few grassy spots around the hotel, but right next to the property are sidewalks and walking trails where you can take your pup for a longer walk which Truffles enjoyed.

Service
There isn’t much to say about service from our stay. The staff were friendly enough, but we had very few interactions beyond checking in and out.
Wi-Fi
Internet is free for all guests and the speed and connection was good.
Check-In & Check-Out Times
The check-in time at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center is 3pm and check-out is at 12pm.
Location
The Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center is, as the name suggests, located in Denver Tech Center. It’s therefore a convenient place to stay if you’ll be visiting businesses at Denver Tech Center for work during non-COVID times; when we stayed there in late August/early September 2021, a lot of offices still seemed to be closed.
There are nice walking trails nearby, along with Wallace Park. There’s a King Soopers grocery store (one of Kroger’s brands) a couple of minutes away, along with lots of restaurants nearby. Cherry Creek State Park is about five minutes away, while downtown Denver is a 20 minute drive if there’s not much traffic.
Parking
Parking is free at the hotel. There were a few spots at the front of the property, although they might have been for a restaurant opposite – it wasn’t entirely clear. There were lots of other spots around the hotel though, so you shouldn’t have a problem finding somewhere to park.
Cost
We booked our stay at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center because they were charging a reasonable room rate during our dates. It cost $84 per night before tax and $92.61 with tax, along with the $75 pet fee.
We paid for the stay with a card that had a Hyatt Amex Offer loaded to it which was offering 10% back as a statement credit. That meant the net cost for our stay was $83.35 per night with tax and reduced the pet fee to $67.50.
Points Earned
We earned 10,653 points from the stay which is broken down as follows:
- 3,329 base points
- 666 bonus points from Explorist status (we booked under Shae’s account rather than mine so that she’d earn the elite nights towards earning Globalist status – something I already have)
- 6,658 bonus points from a Hyatt promo offering triple points
We tend to redeem World of Hyatt points at category 1 properties that cost 5,000 points per night, so our week-long stay earned us enough points for two free nights.
Final Thoughts
We had a perfectly nice stay at the Hyatt Place Denver Tech Center. There was nothing remarkable about it, but we don’t expect that when staying at Hyatt Places – we like them for the spacious rooms, good breakfast and consistent experience.
In this case their breakfast wasn’t amazing, but that was because they just restarted offering a hot breakfast again during our stay. Now that it’s a month later, they’ve hopefully ironed out those issues.
Truffles Approval Rating
Truffles gives the hotel four paws out of four – pawfect! Our room was quiet and she liked having decent places to walk around the neighborhood. It was also great that we were only charged a $75 per fee rather than $175 despite the fact that we stayed long enough that we should’ve incurred the higher pet fee.
