Oftentimes when we stay at hotels they list local events in the lobby. Never have we been so excited to see a listing than the Howl-o-ween Dog Trick-or-Treat at the West Virginia Botanic Garden.
This was the first year they offered this event and it was just pawfection. Shout-out to the staff member at the TownePlace Suites Bridgeport Clarksburg for including that – it made our stay even more amazing!
We used to do family costumes for several years before leaving Hampton Roads to start the road trip. Now, with limited space, we only have Truffles’ Hogwarts robes with us – she’s a Hufflepup by the way.

There was trick-or-treating for the dogs around a trail within the garden and a costume contest. We arrived late since I was teaching but we still made the most of our evening and had a great time.
We arrived just in time for the costume contest. There were two adults and a young lady walking around searching for the best costume(s) in the small/medium dog, large dog and family costume categories. The winners for all three were amazing. I missed a picture but the small/medium dogs were a Pomeranian sushi-chef with a Lab sibling as the sushi. The large dogs that won were Oreos and the family costume was an airplane and pilot.

We then went around to see the local businesses that provided tables around a walking trail for the pups to “trick-or-treat” at. We went backwards and I’m so glad we did as we saw most of the tables before they packed up. We stopped for a few minutes at the WV Pre-Vet Club where Truffles got a lot of treats and pets. She had a wonderful time at each stop and we ended up with a great family photo.

The only hiccup for the event was parking, but since we arrived late we had no problem. It was such a successful event I hope they are able to work it out with their neighbors to have more parking nearby and to keep this pawsome event going each year.
She ended up with a bucket of little treats to take home. When we arrived back at the hotel she got one more treat from one of her favorite front-desk workers, Becky – who along with Sheila gave her treats each day.
