If you’ve been following along on our 50 state road trip, you’ll know Shae and I love food.
One of Shae’s favorite types of food is donuts and it’s not like I’ll kick them out of bed either. So when we were looking for places to eat in Tulsa, we were excited when finding Hurts Donut Tulsa.
Hurts Donut currently has 19 stores in 9 states, but we’d never heard of them before reaching Tulsa. I checked out their website before visiting and loved what I saw. Not only is it a fun website (go explore it for yourself – I’ll wait. And as they instruct on there, donut click the button 😉 ), but their list of donuts looked amazing. Cosmic brownie, maple bacon, cotton candy, s’mores and more.
We were sold before even stepping foot in the store, so we went to check it out the next day.

If you wake up in the middle of the night needing some sweet, sweet glaze, Hurts Donut Tulsa can give you the hit you need. That’s because they’re open 24 hours a day. Well, they’re actually open 25/8.

There’s plenty of seating inside the store, although there’s a danger you’ll never be able to stand up having eaten all the doughy goodness.

You may as well ignore the ‘singles’ list in the top-left corner of the wall-mounted menu, as you’d be doing yourself a major disservice to only get one donut.

If you’re not sure why, all will become clear once you reach the counter. Trays and trays of delicious-looking donuts.
Apple Pie. S’mores. Fruity Pebbles. Andes Mint. Worm Dirt. Salted Caramel and Chocolate. Cookie Monster. The list went on.

How can you choose? But choose you must. Shae and I decided to get ‘A Little Dirty’. No, that doesn’t mean we smooshed our faces in the donuts (as much as we’d have loved to). Getting ‘A Little Dirty’ meant we could pick any six donuts for $11.
Shae got the Bavarian cream, birthday cake and Andes mint, while I got the dirt worm, apple pie and salted caramel and chocolate. Half a dozen wasn’t enough, so Shae also got a glazed twist.

My initiation into Hurts Donuts began with the salted caramel and chocolate donut. Oh man, it was incredible. The dough was ridiculously soft, the icing was perfect and you could clearly taste some of the salt in there. It was, quite simply, one of the best donuts I’ve ever had.
That theme continued as we worked our way through all the donuts. Neither Shae nor I are normally big fans of cake donuts, but even those were great, although the regular doughy kind were still my favorite.
Seeing as we’re doing our 50 state road trip over the course of 5 years, that means we get to spend a little longer in each city. We ended up staying in Tulsa for 9 nights which meant we had to go back to Hurts Donut for more.

Even though we loved the donuts we’d bought previously, we decided to try some different kinds. Our decision making was made more difficult as there were some different flavors on our second visit, all of which looked incredible. We finally settled on maple bacon, s’mores and Cap’n Crunch Crunch Berries donuts.
We took them back to the hotel where our dog Truffles immediately worked on her trademarked hypnotic stare to convince me to give her some of the bacon.
It worked.

Despite all the donuts we ate, we thankfully didn’t need to call their Emergency Donut Vehicle.

We’ll definitely be checking out other Hurts Donut locations in other states while on our 50 state road trip though, so we’ll have to keep the number for their Whaaambulance on speed dial as there’s a good chance we’ll start sweating glaze at some point in the coming months and years.

To help our budget, we might also need to invest in one of their T-shirts. The only problem is that we’ll need a XXXXXXXXXL by the end of the trip if we visit all their locations.

So if you ever find yourself in Tulsa, do yourself – and your taste buds – a favor (and flavor) by visiting Hurts Donut Tulsa. I promise you won’t regret it.

Just in case you care, Hurts Donut didn’t pay us to write about them and we didn’t get any free donuts either – in fact, they didn’t actually know we’d be writing about them. That’s because we don’t write sponsored posts (this is why) – we just loved their donuts and wanted to share their amazingness with you.
[…] Taste-wise, I liked them more than Shae did, although Round Rock Donuts in Round Rock, TX and Hurts Donut in Tulsa, OK (and other locations) are still easily my favorite […]
