The first time we found a dedicated Dog Bar was Bark & Brew in Green Bay, WI. I loved it! Dogs, dog puns, snacks, drinks!? What’s not to love?
We then had fun at Fetch Bar & Grill in Wichita, KS, although that’s sadly since closed.
Well Omaha Dog Bar brought back all those feelings and more. Here’s what it’s like for you and your pups at the Omaha Dog Bar in Omaha, Nebraska.
Registration
A few things to know first – you must have your pup’s vaccinations up-to-date and bring them with you for your first visit to register your pup. We found out that, during the pandemic, we’d missed Truffles’ Bordetella shot for a year and had to go and get her updated at the nearby Pet Vaccination Clinic before we could come back.
Also, you can pay a membership or a daily visit fee for your pup – there’s no cost for humans to visit the bar. If you don’t have a dog but like to hang out, there’s no entry fee for you either. We ended up there on a Tuesday so we got half off Truffles’s visit fee.

Finally, there are limited fetch hours. They’re posted but we missed it, so just make sure if you want to play ball with your dog while there you go during the specified times. You know how Truffles feels about her ball time, so she was a little disappointed to miss the fetch hours but she still had a wonderful time.
Visiting
One of the great features of Omaha Dog Bar is that there are a lot of sections – inside and outside with separate sections, leashed and off-leash, cooling areas, agility spots and photo ops!
There’s a small/shy dog section which was great for Truffles. She’s more of a dog-introvert and a people-extrovert. She’s not really interested in other dogs at the dog park or at the dog bar. However, she made friends with other small dogs – Polly and Robert “Bob” Barker – and their people.
Omaha Dog Bar has Bark Rangers who are kind of like the “lifeguards” of the bar too. They help monitor behavior of both people and pets. The majority of dogs at the bar were large which can be overwhelming when your legs are just 6 inches tall. That being said, despite there being so many dogs it was a really peaceful, fun place for the dogs to enjoy themselves. We only witnessed one tiny spat and the Bark Ranger as well as pet parents were all over it.

You can only eat food in designated, on-leash areas, but you can take your drinks anywhere. We each got a drink – Stephen got the EOS Hefeweizen and I got a couple of the “Collie Me Maybe” Margaritas (so so good!) and Truffles tried a Dog Beer Shot (bone broth and water).

Reception Area
There’s a dog wash and merchandise area where you check in which was such a great feature. I got a really cute T-Shirt that says “Easily Distracted by Dogs” and Truffles got a new sticker for her suitcase.

Recommendation
We HIGHLY recommend the Omaha Dog Bar. We had a blast. Despite being a shy dog, Truffles had a wonderful time supawvising from above and hanging out in the small/shy dog area.

And she’d like to remind you to always tip your Bark Ranger.
