If there’s one thing Shae hates more than spiders, roller coasters and me singing the JG Wentworth song, it’s toilet humor. (She’s therefore going to hate my Final Thoughts at the end of this post 😉 )
Thankfully she’s a good sport, so when I said I wanted to check out Poopy’s Pub N’ Grub in Savanna IL, she agreed to come along for dinner.
Poopy’s is a restaurant and bar that’s popular with bikers. Savanna is on the Great River Road, so it has a lot of bikers passing through, especially on weekends.
To get the full experience, we went there for dinner on a Saturday night. The weather hadn’t been great that day, so I don’t think there were as many bikers out as normal, but it was still fairly busy.
We had our choice of seating upon arrival, so we decided to sit at the front of the restaurant near the bar.

For a more unique experience, you might want to sit up at the bar. That’s because their seats are like padded toilet seats, complete with lid as a backrest.

Poopy’s Pub N’ Grub is huge, so there’s loads more seating out back that’s undercover, along with another bar.

The covered outdoor seating was fairly popular as it looked out on the Def Leppard cover band playing on Poopy’s’ music stage.

Seeing as it’s a biker restaurant and bar, there’s all kinds of motorcycle paraphernalia around the place.

There are other fun design elements, like several chandeliers constructed using beer bottles.

We were here for food though, so we started looking through the menu. It was hard knowing what to order as their menu is pretty extensive:

As you might have noticed, there are all kinds of menu items with poop in their name. Needless to say, this was Shae’s face while looking through the menu:

I couldn’t come to Poopy’s and not eat something with ‘Poop’ in its name, so I ordered The Big Poop. The Big Poop is a 1 lb burger topped with lettuce, tomato and onion; it usually comes with cheese too, but I asked for that to be left off as I don’t like cheese.
Sides don’t automatically come with the burgers and sandwiches at Poopy’s, so I ordered a side of fries and me and Shae to share. Seeing as I was about to eat 1 lb of meat, I definitely didn’t need an entire helping of fries all to myself.

The photo above doesn’t do justice to how large The Big Poop is, nor how much bigger the bun is. To give you a better idea, it’s about the size of my face.

My burger was delicious, as were the crinkle fries. In theory the burger would’ve been even tastier if I’d ordered it with bacon on top, but it’s probably good that I didn’t add even more meat to it.
I’d asked for The Big Poop to be cooked medium-well and they did that to perfection. I think they must also use some kind of lean beef as the burger wasn’t greasy and the base of the bun didn’t get at all soggy which was impressive. If they do use lean beef, it didn’t affect the flavor for me as it was still very tasty.
As you might imagine, there was no way Shae was going to ask for food that had ‘Poop’ in the name. She therefore ordered the Loaded Home Wrecker. That’s a foot-long hot dog with onions, tomatoes and pickle. You also get a choice of one or all of the following toppings – taco meat, nacho cheese sauce, sauerkraut and/or homemade slaw. Shae decided to get it topped with both taco meat and sauerkraut.

Once again, the photo above doesn’t do justice to how enormous this thing was. The sausage wasn’t one of those anemic-looking foot-long wieners you sometimes get elsewhere. This was a proper sausage.
To give you a better idea of its size, here’s Shae about to start getting to work on it:

In the end, Shae was only able to get through half of it. She let me finish it off for her the next day and, like my burger, it was delicious too. The taco meat in particular went incredibly well with it – I think I might’ve enjoyed it even more than what we had during our Cincinnati chili dog challenge.
As for me, I was determined to make it through the entire 1 lb burger.

The last few bites took a little longer to get through, but eventually I made it:

My Everest was conquered. 1 lb of meat lay in my belly, but only until the next day. When you eat that much food, the restaurant lives up to its name.

After finishing our meal, we went over to check out the Poopy’s gift shop which had a lot of fun stuff.

Final Thoughts
Don’t be deturd by the name – Poopy’s Pub N’ Grub is no dump. It’s a fun place to eat, our server was friendly and the food is delicious.
If you’re passing through Savanna IL, don’t let the opportunity go to waste. If it’s not number one on your list of things to do in Savanna, it should definitely be number two.
So pull up a stool and ordure The Big Poop to eat – you won’t regret it.

Brilliant servers T-shirt!
Glad you enjoyed your visit …….I’ve worked for them since we were downtown (over 17 years)!
No more Big Poop Burger as of July 24, 2023 🙁
That’s a shame – I guess I’ll have to get a Double Big Poop if we ever head back there.
