As part of our 5 year, 50 state road trip, one of the things we want to do is visit each state’s capital and their Capitol building, even if it’s just from the outside.
The first state of our road trip was South Carolina, so we swung by their Capitol building on our last day in Columbia.
Our second state was Georgia, so we planned to visit their Capitol building while we were in Augusta. There was only one problem with that plan though.
Augusta isn’t Georgia’s state capital – Atlanta is.
That’s a stock photo of Atlanta’s skyline and the gold-domed building is their Capitol building. The problem is that we’d visited Atlanta before Augusta, so we missed our chance to check out Georgia’s State Capitol.
Sort of.
Truffles was sick for half our time in Atlanta, so we didn’t get to do anywhere near as much as we wanted during our time there. That means we already had plans to return to Atlanta at some point in the future, so when we do that we’ll be able to swing by the Capitol building.
Lesson learned though – double-check the capitals of each state.
Hi guys! I really love following your adventures on your blog so I nominated you guys for a Liebster Award. It’s a fun little way to share the love around the blogging community – you check it out here: https://bububackpacks.wordpress.com/2018/03/13/liebster-award/
Also, oops! That’s too funny about the state capitols! I’ve definitely done something like that before in Europe, except I was in the wrong country haha
Thank you so much! That was very kind of you!!
Another tricky state capital is Minnesota – it’s St. Paul, not Minneapolis. Also, we’ve just finished refurbishing our Capitol building so I hope you like it when you visit.
Wishing truffles a speedy recovery, and
💜ing your blog – and all of you,
Trish
Thanks, that’s good to know about St Paul 🙂
i spend alot of time in atlantas airport!!!
You weren’t entirely wrong thinking that Augusta was the capital you were looking for. It’s just that Augusta is the capital of Maine, not Georgia. Close enough, right? 😂
That must’ve been it!
